SIEM REAP STOPOVER 3 DAYS / 2 NIGHTS This is a private tour with english speaking guide and can be tailored to your arrival time in Siem Reap. DAY 1 SIEM REAP - ARRIVAL Be met on arrival at Siem Reap International Airport and transfer to your hotel. (rooms may not be ready until the afternoon) In the morning visit the ancient capital of Angkor Thom. See the South Gate, with its huge statues, Terrace of the Elephants, Terrace of the Leper King, Royal Palace complex and Bayon Temple, unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces. Lunch break In the afternoon visit the most famous of all the temples on the plain of Angkor, Angkor Wat. Enjoy sunset at Phnom Bakheng near Angkor Wat. DAY 2 SIEM REAP (B) Morning visit to the busy local produce markets. See Preah Khan Temple, one of the largest complexes at Angkor. Lunch break. Visit Ta Prohm, one of the areas most beautiful temples, which has been relatively untouched since it was discovered, and retains much of its mystery. Its appeal lies in the fact that unlike other monuments of Angkor, it was abandoned and swallowed by the jungle, looking very much the way most of the Angkor temples appeared when European explorers first stumbled upon them. DAY 3 SIEM REAP – DEPARTURE (B) See Banteay Srei, a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva, and considered to be the jewel in the crown of classical Khmer art. Visit the floating village of Chong Khneas, located 10 kilometres south of Siem Reap. The community live in over 1000 houseboats and makeshift rafts and is never static for long, as it moves down the river and out into the lake in the dry season. Take a traditional wooden boat for a ride on the Tonle Sap Lake, the great lake of Cambodia and one of the largest in Asia. Lunch break. Time permitting, visit Artisans Angkor, created to help young people find work in their home villages, allowing them to learn crafts (such as stone and wood carving, lacquering and gilding, silk processing) and provide them with a vocation.
