DAY 1        ARRIVE HO CHI MINH CITY  

Arrive Ho Chi Minh City/Tan Son Nhat International Airport and transfer to hotel.

DAY 2        HO CHI MINH CITY   (B)

Morning tour of the city – see Notre Dame Cathedral, the old Post Office and take a photo stop at the former Presidential Palace. Visit Cholon (China Town), Thien Hau Pagoda and finish the tour at Ben Thanh Market, a large market selling everything from fresh produce and flowers to clothing, shoes, homewares, DVD’s etc. – bargain away!

DAY 3        HO CHI MINH – MEKONG DELTA – HO CHI MINH   (B/L)

Drive to the heart of the Mekong Delta, famous for its vast rice fields and beautiful landscapes. Visit colourful Vinh Trang Pagoda before taking a boat trip on the Mekong River to Phoenix Island where local handicrafts and sweets from the coconut are produced. Take a short ride on a horse drawn carriage and then enjoy fresh seasonal fruits and traditional live music. Proceed by small sampan boat through the canal to our lunch stop. Return to Ho Chi Minh City.

DAY 4        HO CHI MINH – HANOI – NIGHT TRAIN TO LAO CAI (B/D)

Morning at leisure. Check-out of hotel 12 noon. Luggage can be stored at the hotel until mid afternoon transfer to the airport for flight to Hanoi. Transfer to a local restaurant in Hanoi for dinner, then proceed to Hanoi Station for night train to Lao Cai.

Overnight trip to Lao Cai in sleeping compartment (twin share) – train departs approximately 10pm.

DAY 5        SAPA   (B/L)

Early morning arrival at Lao Cai, the border town to China. Transfer to Sapa, located 1500 metres above sea level. After a continental breakfast at the hotel, you will have time to relax and enjoy the beautiful landscape and town on your own until check-in at the hotel. (2pm).

Lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon take a short drive to Cat Cat village, home of the Hmong people. See the villagers going about their daily life and learn about their traditions and culture.

DAY 6        SAPA - HANOI   (B/L)

In the morning take a short trek to see mystic rock formations of Ham Rong Mountain and enjoy a performance by local minority group. Return to the hotel to check-out  (12 noon).  After lunch at a local restaurant, drive to Ta Phin village, home to Red Dzao and Hmong people.

In the evening transfer back to Lao Cai for overnight train to Hanoi (arrival around 4.30am).

DAY 7        HANOI   (B)

Early morning check-in at the hotel (7am) – free time to relax at the hotel. In the afternoon enjoy a one hour cyclo ride through streets of the Old Quarter.

DAY 8        HANOI – HALONG BAY – HANOI   (B/L)

Early morning departure from Hanoi to Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with calm waters and thousands of islands forming a spectacular seascape of limestone pillars for a day boat cruise. Seafood lunch on board. Return to Hanoi.

DAY 9        HANOI – DANANG – HOI AN   (B)

Morning flight to Danang. Transfer to the enchanting town of Hoi An. Check into hotel and enjoy a free afternoon at leisure.

DAY 10    HOI AN   (B)

Morning tour of ancient Hoi An town. Start with a boat trip across the river to see woodcarvers as well as a pottery and brick-making village. Return to the town for a leisurely discovery tour on foot of historic merchant and community houses, places of worship and the Japanese Covered Bridge. Return to the hotel for afternoon at leisure.

DAY 11    HOI AN   (B)

Free day.

DAY 12    HOI AN – DANANG – HO CHI MINH   (B)

Morning free until midday transfer to Danang airport for flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Transfer to hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.

DAY 13    HO CHI MINH CITY   (B)

Free day for last minute shopping until transfer to Ho Chi Minh City/Tan Son Nhat International Airport for your onwards flight (note check-out is 12 noon – if you require a late checkout please advise – extra surcharge will apply)
