DAY 1 ARRIVE HO CHI MINH CITY Arrive Ho Chi Minh City/Tan Son Nhat International Airport and transfer to hotel. DAY 2 HO CHI MINH CITY (B) Morning tour of the city – see Notre Dame Cathedral, the old Post Office and take a photo stop at the former Presidential Palace. Visit Cholon (Chinatown), Thien Hau Pagoda and Ben Thanh Market, a large market selling everything from fresh produce and flowers to clothing, shoes, homewares, DVD’s etc. – bargain away! DAY 3 HO CHI MINH – MEKONG DELTA – HO CHI MINH (B/L) Drive south to Can Tho, the biggest city in the Mekong Delta located on the Hau River, lunch enroute. Arrival in the afternoon, free time to relax. DAY 4 CAN THO – SOC TRANG – CAN THO – CHAU DOC (B/L/D) Early morning boat trip to see the Cai Rang floating produce market. There will be an opportunity to watch local villagers producing rice paper, pop-rice and rice husking. Continue by car to Soc Trang to visit Bat Pagoda, Clay Pagoda and Khmer Museum (lunch enroute). Return to Can Tho. In the afternoon drive to Chau Doc stopping for a visit by boat to the Bang Lang Stork Sanctuary in Thot Not. Dinner at a local restaurant. DAY 5 CHAU DOC – PHNOM PENH (B/L) Early morning boat trip to Phnom Penh (travelling time including customs and immigration formalities at border checkpoint takes about 4 hours). Transfer from Phnom Penh boat pier to hotel. Lunch at the hotel. Afternoon free to relax. DAY 6 PHNOM PENH (B/L) Visit the Victory Monument and National Museum. The museum contains a collection of Khmer art – notably sculptures – from throughout the centuries. Visit the Royal Palace complex including the Silver Pagoda so named because its floor is made up of 5000 silver tiles. End your morning with a visit to Wat Phnom temple, from where you can enjoy views over the tree-lines avenues of the city. After lunch at the hotel visit the notorious Tuoi Sleng Muesum which was taken over by Pol Pot’s security forces and turned into a prison known as Security Prison 21. End the day with a visit to the Russian market, a lively market where you will find antiques, jewellery, silk, carvings t-shirts DVD’s and other souvenirs. DAY 7 PHNOM PENH – SIEM REAP (B/L) Transfer to the airport for flight to Siem Reap. Transfer to your hotel. Afternoon free to relax. DAY 8 SIEM REAP (B/L) Visit Preah Khan, a large templex complex, Neak Pean, built in the middle of a pool and Ta Som Temple. Lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon see Angkor Thom including South Gate, the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, Terrace of the Elephants, Terrace of the Leper King. See Bayon Temple, unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces. Sunset at Pre Rup temple. DAY 9 SIEM REAP (B/L) See Angkor Wat, the most famous of all the temples. After lunch at the hotel visit Ta Prohm Temple. Its appeal lies in the fact that unlike other monuments of Angkor, it was abandoned and swallowed by the jungle. Also visit Chau Say Tevode and Thommanon. DAY 10 SIEM REAP – DEPARTURE (B) Free day until departure. If you have enough time, we suggest a visit to Tonle Sap Lake to see the floating village of Chong Khneas (extra surcharge will apply). END OF TOUR.
